Play will be stroke play over 36 holes and players will be eligible to enter with a maximum handicap of 9. In the event of entries exceeding 72, players will be balloted out on handicap.
The following precedence shall apply to the trophies and/or prizes awarded at the National Final:
The Championship Trophy - Best gross score
Southern Area Trophy - Best gross score from Southern Zones
Midland Area Trophy - Best gross score from Midland Zone
Northern Area Trophy- Best gross score from Northern Zones

The current Public Courses Scratch Champion of England will be granted an entry to the next Championship in order to defend their title, subject to him still being a playing member of a Club affiliated to the NAPGC.
The Champion will also be invited to compete in the English Golf Union's Champion of Champion in September at Woodhall Spa.
