The competition is open to men who have reached the age of 55 by 1 January in the year of competition. The maximum permitted handicap is 24 (playoff).
There are four pairs per team playing aggregate stableford greensomes. Two pairs play at home and two pairs play away. The stroke allowance is as per CONGU recommendations - lower handicap x 0.6 plus higher handicap x 0.4.
There are three Areas with the Area winners meeting in the National Final.
