UKPCC National Nett Finals at The Warwickshire Golf Club

Monday 2nd October saw a field of 65 men and 23 ladies compete for the UKPCC Nett Championship on the Earls course at The Warwickshire.
Monday 2nd October saw a field of 65 men and 23 ladies compete for the UKPCC Nett Championship on the Earls course at The Warwickshire.

Due to the heavy rain in the preceding days, the course played to every inch of it’s long yardage of close to 7000 yards. With tricky to read greens, tight driving holes and well placed water hazards, it provided a fantastic test of golf. Truly a fitting challenge for this national final.

One the day the weather was kind to the golfers with both 1st and 10th tee starts. The competition was a very tight affair with only 5 and 4 points respectively, separating the top ten places in both the mens and ladies sections.

Ben Rushton from Cannock Park was leader in the clubhouse for most of the day until pipped at the post by Barry John Rushton from Loughgall on countback. Both had a very creditable 40 points.

In the ladies Jill Tranter also from Cannock Park held off a very close challenge from Debbie Juul – Mitcham and Helen Collins – Hoebridge to secure her win with 34 points.
