The Bourne-Vanneck Final took place on Saturday 6 July at West Middlesex Golf Club. The course was in good condition with the greens (as usual) in great condition and it was a good day for golf with the weather overcast but dry and warm.
The field consisted 16 teams with a high quality field turning out. Scoring reflected the course conditions with only a few players breaking par in the nett competition.
In the gross section Haste Hill A, Cheshunt A and Southsea looked to be the strongest teams on paper and that is how it panned out with Haste Hill winning the Bourne-Vanneck Cup with a score of 217 from Cheshunt who took the runners up plaque and Southsea on 221.
Despite missing out on the gross, Southsea dominated the nett competition with a score of 209 to lift the Bourne-Vanneck Shield by a stretch. Haste Hill B picked up the runners up plaque.
Many thanks to all clubs and competitors for taking part in the regional events and the national final. Haste Hill will go on to represent the NAPGC at the England Golf Champion of Champions Tournament in September.
