The venue for the finals weekend of the Bourne -Vanneck and JHB competitions for Men and Ladies was held at the Shropshire Golf Club in Telford, Shropshire. Thirteen teams from across the country contested the Men's Final on Saturday 16th July. Many of the players commented on the excellent condition of the course – and also that it was a tough challenge! Early rain cleared to leave a largely fine day with full waterproofs unnecessary.
The Basildon A team of Ben Tobin,Josh Tobin and Glen Eastman won the Bourne-Vanneck Cup for the lowest gross score of 218. Ben also shot the lowest gross score of the day with a creditable 69. Basildon B were the runners up with a combined gross score of 227.
In the nett competition the Bourne-Vanneck Shield went to the Rose Hill team of Steve Green, Dan Phillips and Steve Frost with a combined nett score of 217.

For the Ladies JHB competition which followed on the Sunday, the weather took a turn for the worst with players having to battle through rain for most of the day. As for the men there were thirteen teams from across the country participating. The course was very demanding for the Ladies with the rain making it even more so but there were no ‘No Returns’ which just goes to show the spirit of support amongst all the teams.
The Easthampstead A team of Barb Hudson-Reed, Alex Cram and Caroline Millar won the JHB Cup for the best combined team gross score (266) with the Huntswood A team runners up. The Wishaw team of Vicki Hayden, Sue Franklin and Jayne Proud won the JHB Shield for the best combined team nett score (241) with Warley Woods missing out by one point to take the runners up place.

A huge thank you to John Clayton our England Golf referee for the competition on both days -keeping the players well informed so that there were no infringments of the rules.
Congratulations to the winning teams and well done to everyone who played in both of these competitions. It was particularly good to see some of the newer NAPGC members participating and reaching the Finals.
