The NAPGC has been closely reviewing developments and following the latest announcement that the lockdown is to be extended for a further three weeks, we have reviewed our competitions schedule:-
• As things stand, we are still aiming to play as many of our events on the published dates with the bulk of our main qualifiers not starting until July. However, we recognise that club qualifiers will be almost impossible to stage in time. We are therefore working on a system whereby we can allocate places in our qualifying events and we will be outlining this in a subsequent email.
• The finals of the Gordon and Mary Foster Bowls which were due to be staged at the end of this month will now be played in October and again we will write and confirm the date and venue.
• When beyond the lockdown period becomes clearer, the team events and knock out series will also be reviewed. Our current intent is to play as many of our events as possible. We are considering a number of options and will put our proposals to you in due course.
As you can appreciate these are very uncertain times for all of us. We are reviewing government guidelines on a regular basis and whilst we are planning on running all our events, we will make the necessary changes to the schedule should it be required. As previously advised, we will be contacting you at the end of May to provide a more detailed update on competition planning, what will be possible and changes that will be necessary to achieve this.
Like you we all look forward to being back out on the golf course soon. In the meantime, please stay safe.
Best wishes
Neil Jennings
