Men’s Championship of England
Before the end of May each year, NAPGC Member Clubs will stage a Club Level Qualifying Round over 18 holes medal play which may be held in conjunction with one of their club medal rounds. The results are forwarded together with the Club Qualifying Entry Fee to the Club’s Regional Secretary on specially prepared summary sheets (available from the NAPGC Secretary or the Regional Secretary) or a competition result sheet from a CONGU approved software system.
If a club has had entries in their club Level Qualifying Round in all four handicap categories (5 and under, 6-12, 13-20, 21-28), the Regional Secretary will ensure that each club is guaranteed six places at the Regional Final – best gross, best nett, plus those with the best scores in each division. Qualifiers for Division 1 will be assessed on gross scores, with all other divisions on nett scores. If there are additional spaces available at the Regional Final, a Regional Secretary may invite more players from a club, chosen in direct relationship to their scores and the number of competitors at the club’s qualifying competition.
The current Scratch and Nett Champions of England will be granted an entry to the next Championship in order to defend their titles, subject to them still being playing members of Clubs affiliated to the NAPGC.
Please refer to the Rules for qualification from the Regional Final to the National Final and prize winners at Regional and National Finals.
Players who are their club’s current Gross or Nett Champions i.e the winners of the Club Championship played over 18 or 36 holes medal play, are eligible to play in the Regional Final without having to play in their club’s qualifying round. The names of the two players must be included in the details sent to the Regional Secretary
