After months of persistant rain, frost and snow what a pleasure to arrive at Cherwell Edge GC to be met with glorious sunshine. Nine teams had battled through the winter months to contended the Men’s Gordon Forster Final. With a slight breeze to make the golf a little more difficult some very good scores were returned. The eventual winners of the 2018 Gordon Forster Bowl with a score of 142 pts were the Ruislip GC Kings – Larry Hancock, Glen Hancock, Mark Barrett and Lee Rea. In second place with 140 pts were the defending champions Tilgate Forest Newbies – Jon Britchford, Neill Jonas, Ian Kirk and Tony Bishop. The best individual score on the day came from Bob Nicholls playing for the Tilgate Forest 4 Tops with a great score of 41 pts.

For the Mary Forster Final there were eight teams this year with some familiar faces back again. This year Wimbledon Common Ladies and Cannock Park were represented by two teams each. Scoring generally wasn’t as high as in the Men’s event but it was the team with the most consistant scorers who prevailed. Wimbledon Common Green team (Madge Corbitt, Virginia Marin & Glencora Senior) were the runaway winners of the 2018 Mary Forster Bowl with a total score of 106 points. The Oaks represented by Tessa Hubble, Jill Namey & Jane Pettingell took second place with 87 points narrowly holding off the the rest of the field.
