The Gordon and Mary Forster Bowl Finals made a welcomed return to Cherwell Edge GC in Oxfordshire for the first NAPGC Finals of 2017. The course was in great condition and with the sun shining there was some very good individual scoring across both finals. The EG referee for the day was Stewart Church – fortunately apart from two rulings his day was relatively easy with no one getting into serious trouble.
Five Ladies teams had battled through the winter months to reach the Final and for two teams, Wimbledon and Belfairs, it was their first appearance in an NAPGC Final. Scoring in this three player stableford competition was generally high with a top score of 39 points achieved by Lyn Atherton (ELGC), Madge Corbitt (Wimbledon) and Jill Tranter (Cannock Park). The eventual winners were Easthampstead (Lyn Atherton 39, Sam Cook 37 and Karen Foan 33) with a total of 109 points who beat Richmond Park ( Lia Donath 37, Val Riziotis 36 and Susan Smith 33) by three points.
