This year’s competition was again held at Bromsgrove Golf Centre. For a change, players did not need umbrellas and the course was in good condition, although many commented that the pins were in challenging positions. The scores were fairly close with some results again having to be decided on countback. It was very encouraging that play proceeded at a reasonable pace and there wasn’t one ‘No Return’.
In the Silver Division, Sandra Combstock of Hoebridge was the winner of the Roy Beckett and Peter Alliss Rosebowl with a gross score of 81. Alex Cram of Easthampstead won the Salver for Best Nett on countback with a score of 73, 2nd Gross went to Mel McLaren from Hainault Forest with Donna Hunt just beaten into the 2nd nett place, also with a score of 73. Sandra will now go on to represent the NAPGC in the English Women's and English Girls' County Champions of Champions Tournament at Woodhall Spa on 16th September.
The Bronze Division saw the Mike Murphy Trophy awarded to Chris Marshall from Wishaw who had a Nett 68, the only score under the par for the course of 69. Jayne Dando from Portsmouth came second with 70 with Elizabeth Tyte of Huntswood taking 3rd place with a nett score of 73 and Caroline Gracey of Hoebridge was fourth with 74.
Well done to all who took part today and hopefully we will see you all again next year.
Thanks go to Bromsgrove Golf Centre for hosting and getting the course into such good shape and Ros Weston our England Golf Referee.
